DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS

A great comeback for the DW franchise. The gameplay is the best that the series have ever been with a combination of parries and dodges, aggressive enemies that punishes thoughtless button mashing, great force and charge mechanics that makes battles feels like a massive war between two forces and making both allies and enemies feels like they have impact, rather than act as punching bags and escort NPCs. The story is also great for what it is. Narrowing the scope down to one character allows for the exploration of the others in ways that have not been seen in a DW game before. Though the timeline of the game ended at Chibi and that's a great shame, there is enough story content here to make the story great. Problems with the game is the cut characters and cloned movesets. Many of the unique weapons for the officers are gone, and every characters are demoted to the boring spear, staffs and maces. Characters that ought to be present during this time like Cao Ren, Cao Xiu, the Qiao sisters, Guan Ping and Cao Pi who would have greatly benefited from the character exploration but were active during this time period were also cut, which is confusing. But overall, a great DW experience.
